Cancer will affect one in two Australians by the age 85. However, cancer is a disease that not only affects the physical and emotional health of an individual; it touches their family and friends and can remain in their lives for many years. In 2017, we celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the ride, a decade of making a difference to Western Australians living with cancer.
The Red Sky Ride has made an incredible impact on the cancer community: contributing to the establishment of three additional SolarisCare Cancer Centres, improving access to support services for regional and rural patients and providing over 50,000 free treatments.
The fellowship of the ride provides opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals who want to lead and inspire others to make a difference in the community. Participants aim to promote the importance of quality of life and integrated healthcare while raising awareness of available support services across the state.
Professional training and education are provided to riders to maintain and develop their own health and fitness levels along with an increased awareness of rider safety. In addition, a dedicated group of volunteers provide on-route assistance, ensuring the wellbeing of all participants. All riders are offered fundraising support through a series of organised events including a Business Breakfast, Golf Day and Gala Dinner.
Managed in WA, all monies raised through the Red Sky Ride directly benefit the community, providing emotional and physical support to all cancer patients and families through the SolarisCare Foundation.
Solaris Cancer Care is Australia’s leader in integrative cancer care, providing a helping hand to overcome the complexities of living with cancer. The cancer support centres provide access to quality resources and services to assist with the emotional and physical effects of cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery and palliative care.
The Red Sky Ride is fundamental in ensuring the SolarisCare Foundation continue and increase the delivery of vital cancer support services within the medical community.
