What is Workplace Giving?
Workplace Giving is a simple yet powerful way for employees to assist SolarisCare in delivering integrated care to cancer patients in Western Australia. More and more businesses are offering workplace giving to their employees as it demonstrates to employees and customers that your business is community minded and committed to supporting initiatives that benefit those who need it most.
Once established, Workplace Giving can provide SolarisCare and your organisation with an effective low cost and low maintenance way to support the community. For people who are time poor, but still want to make a difference, this way of supporting the community is a simple solution. Everybody wins!
Is it difficult to set up?
No. To set up workplace giving into your organisation it is very easy. Most of the administration is handled as per your normal payroll procedures. All modern payroll systems can handle Workplace Giving. Each pay cycle your payroll electronically transfers the donations from any employee directly to SolarisCare in one transaction.
Check with your employer to see if they already have a Workplace Giving arrangement or contact us to discuss how we can assist in getting this set up.
Can a business match employee contributions?
By having Workplace Giving in your organisation, there is an additional opportunity to demonstrate your business commitment to the community.
By supporting SolarisCare through Workplace Giving you will help us provide:
- Free Cancer Support Drop-in Centres at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and St John of God Subiaco

How it works?
Workplace Giving donations are deducted from your employees' salary before tax is applied, thus reducing taxable income. Furthermore, because donations are made pre-tax, it only costs each employee 52 cents for every dollar they pledge*, The Australian Taxation Office pays the balance.
* based on a marginal tax rate of 48.5%
A little contribution each pay can mean:
|$20 per month||Provides materials for one massage/reflexology session per week for a cancer patient receiving radiotherapy.|
|$40 per month||Provides a half hour complimentary therapy for a cancer in-patient who is unable to leave their hospital bed.|
