Jazz Concert in Freo!

A successful fundraising jazz concert for SolarisCare occurred on Sunday, 28 March at the Navy Club in Fremantle. SolarisCare volunteer Di Watts organised this special event and more than $1700 was raised. A magnificent effort. The line up for this concert included Lions South Perth Big Band (directed by Phil Hatton), a special appearance by June and Lew Smith, and famous WA jazz singer Libby Hammer. SolarisCare staff David Edwards, Wendy Mathews and Nicolette Madry attended this event, and David had the opportunity of informing all the patrons about the great work that SolarisCare is achieving as well as pulling out the lucky raffle tickets. Thanks again to Di for organising this event and all the wonderful prizes, and also thanks to her two helpers Jan Petterino and Marie Judges for overseeing the sale of the raffle tickets.

'Ride to Nowhere' at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

Two spinning wheel bikes were provided by OrbitFitness and Cyclemania for the Ride to Nowhere at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) from the 8th-11th March 2010. The event was organized to encourage staff and passers-by to make a donation and ride a portion of the journey to see how far our hospital cyclists can go compared with the actual Red Sky Rider. The event raised $485.55 and people cycling managed to cover 553 kms in the four days the promotion was held.
